In 2011 I went on a road trip with my sister Zoe. Our destination was an outdoor music festival in East Troy, Wisconsin celebrating Pearl Jam’s 20th year of making music. I had just started Untold Imprint a few months prior to the trip and also started writing for my very own blog. The trip was a cathartic journey in many ways, and one of the best experiences of my life. After three days of travel, we arrived in a suburban town near the festival and the rain, which was forecast to clear that evening, was still coming down hard. We decided to wait out the storm in a nearby Barnes & Noble where I picked up a magazine called Artful Blogging for the very first time. The stories in that magazine have stayed with me all these years. They were inspiring and bold and real.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed that I’d be sitting with my coffee this morning, reading my very own story in that very same magazine. Even though I wrote the words, I’m reading it with fresh eyes and an open heart today. I’m imagining someone like me, standing in front of that overwhelming selection of periodicals, on the brink of a new creative endeavor – finding something unexpected and resonant within the stories of women on the pages of Artful Blogging.

Thank you to editor Danielle Williams, the entire Stampington & Company team, and all the loyal Artful Blogging readers – it’s an absolute honor to be in the Winter 2017 issue, surrounded by such grace and strength.

Artful Blogging is available at bookstores, newsstands, and online at Artful Blogging Magazine.
